BACH’S MASS IN B MINOR – LEEDS MINSTER: GOOD FRIDAY

Mass in B Minor JS BachAsserted by many to be the greatest musical work ever written, Bach’s masterpiece was compiled towards the end of his life and is widely viewed as his musical “last will and testament”. On Good Friday 30 March at 7.00 the work will be sung here at the Minster by St Peter’s Singers with the National Festival Orchestra and soloists Kristina James, Claire White-McKay, Lucy Appleyard, David Brown and Quentin Brown. The organist is David Houlder, the harpischordist Alan Horsey and Simon Lindley conducts. Since their first performance by the Singers in 1985 the Choir has presented this significant and iconic work many times. The occasion will be one of happy and grateful memory for the life and work of Jan Holdstock, composer and teacher, who was for many years a member of the Singers.
