Traditional sung evening service lead by members of the Leeds Minster Choir and accompanied on the Minster’s powerful Harrison and Harrison Organ. The Victorian Gothic interior of the church provides the atmospheric setting for this service and will be partially lit by candlelight. The service itself follows a format established five hundred years ago which forms one of the most enduring parts of the choral tradition of the Anglican Church. Visitors will also see figures which make up the ‘There but not there’ installation, which represent men of Leeds who went to war but never returned. Displays illustrate the story of the war through these experiences.

Leeds Minster marks the centenary of the end of the First World War with an evening of musical extracts from the newly written Penthos Requiem by Hannah Stone and Matt Oglesby. These will be performed by the St Peters Singers by candlelight, creating a reflective mood of light and shadows in this historic church. Visitors will also catch glimpses of the figures which make up the ‘There but not there’ installation in the church, which represent men of Leeds who went to war but never returned. Displays illustrate the story of the war through these experiences.
