Leeds Light Night

Thu 12th Oct

6.00pm - 11.00pm

Explore this Victorian Gothic Revival church, partially lit by candlelight. Refreshments will be served.

From 7.30pm – 8.15pm, listen to a recital of British choral music as you experience the beauty of the building:

Lord for thy tender mercies’ sake | Farrant
Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis (Short Service) | Byrd
Sing my soul, his wondrous love | Rorem
Sanctus and Agnus Dei from ‘Missa Aeterna Christi Munera’ | Palestrina
If ye love me | Aston
For the beauty of the earth | Rutter
Gloria from Communion Service in G | Jackson
Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in E falt No.1 | Wood
Hallelujah Chorus | Handel

Outside the building, watch the historic building come alive with a range of vibrant colour schemes. The façade around the Minster will be illuminated using designs created by Leeds primary and high school students, brought to life by the Society of Light and Lighting. Members of the Society delivered lighting workshops to Alder Tree Primary and Leeds West Academy students, challenging the students to produce their own conceptual designs for the Minster, with the winning designs selected from each school.
