Choral Evensong

Sun 19th Apr

5.30pm - 6.30pm

Book of Common Prayer
Responses: Wesley/Hunt
Psalm: 48
Canticles: Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in E | Wesley
Anthem: Thou wilt keep him | Wesley
Voluntary: Holsworthy Church Bells | Wesley
(The music this evening is largely by S. S. Wesley, the first organist of the present-day church here at Leeds, who died on 19th April, 1876)

A reflective service of word, music and prayer that follows an ancient pattern of worship used by Christians for hundreds of years at evening time. Led by the clergy and the Minster choir, the service lasts about 40 minutes on a weekday and 50 minutes on a Sunday, when a sermon is preached. Evensong is an ideal way to find some peace at the end of a busy day. We look forward to welcoming you.
