Talk 2 – Poetry, Contemplation and the ‘G-word’
Many people today seek spiritual wisdom and strength to navigate the challenges of our world. Yet for many, the word ‘God’ feels difficult to say; the reality it points to seems doubtful at best. Do we really need it? Can we go on, spiritually speaking, without it?
Drawing on the wisdom of poets, Scripture and contemplation, this talk reflects on the meaning of the G-word and its significance for contemporary experience.
Revd. Dr. Sarah Bachelard is the founder and leader of Benedictus Contemplative Church, based in Canberra, Australia. For the past 13 years, Benedictus has been exploring what it means to be a contemplative worshipping community engaged with the needs of our world.
Sarah is running a conference ‘Pools of Grace : the gift and call of Contemplative Church’ at Minsteracres, Consett, Co Durham 7-9 June. Details and the booking form can be found here.
