The Choir have recently returned from a visit to sing at St Alban’s Cathedral. Rebecca Almond, who joined the choir earlier this year, tells us all about the trip…
“Last weekend the Choir of Leeds Minster enjoyed their summer residency at St Albans Cathedral. A significant number of the Choir members had the pleasure of singing Choral Evensong on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, as well as a Choral Eucharist on Sunday morning.
What a wonderful time we all had! Providing the music for such a glorious setting – a site which boasts continuous Christian worship for 1700 years, and the longest church nave in England.
This was my first opportunity to join such a tour, having joined the Choir in January of this year, and my experience was such a positive one. Memories I shall take away include the incredible sound of our voices resonating through the cathedral as we finished singing; working hard together to produce beautiful music from Stanford, Tomkins, Howells, Blair and Bairstow… or our down-time exploring such a stunning city with its Roman remains, timber framed medieval houses and Georgian mansions.
I’m sure that we’ll all look forward to our next tour – wherever that will be – and the opportunity to share in making music again with such a talented and enthusiastic group of friends.”
