Mediaeval Music comes home in Leeds Minster!

Most recognised for their title track to the renowned ITV series Victoria, the internationally acclaimed Mediæval Bæbes are bringing their MydWynter Tour to Leeds Minster. In a timeless treat of unique musical allure, the show is set to harness the true spirit of Christmas, as traditional folksongs and Christmas carol classics are cleverly combined with arrangements from the new MydWynter Album.

The Mediæval Bæbes are one the most successful female-led early music and folk ensembles in Europe, and have toured with Jules Holland, supported Michael Flatley in Hyde Park, and performed at the The Game of Thrones Festival in Canada. They have appeared as joint guests on a show with Meatloaf and, as a fan and enthusiast, Iggy Pop regularly plays their music in his shows and invited them to perform live for his Radio 6 Christmas Day special.

Their unique, classical vocals have led them to perform in many historically significant venues across the world, embracing castles and caves through to nightclubs and renaissance fayres. Some of their favourites include Hampton Court Palace, Berkley Castle, The Royal Albert Hall, Chateau de Fontainebleau in France and the Carnglaze Caverns in Cornwall.

Katharine Blake, musical director, composer and producer for the Mediaeval Baebes explained why Leeds Minster will be such a special show. “Our music really comes alive when we sing in churches and cathedrals because it was designed to be sung there. The MydWynter show is a vibrant performance that will be moving, amusing, rousing and spell-binding.”

The Mediaeval Baebes are always accompanied by a dazzling array of exotic and period instruments. The listener is transported through a myriad of ancient and forgotten languages as dance, theatre and ethereal harmonies weave story-telling magic through original settings of mediaeval texts, traditional folk songs, nursery rhymes and Christmas carols.

MydWynter is the 11th Studio album and is due for release on the 25th November 2022.
