This week, we waved a fond farewell to Revd Jane de Gay, who has served as a minister in the Minster community since 2023, while also working as Professor of English Literature at Leeds Trinity University.
Here’s what Jane said about her new role:
“I am going to be Director of Ministry for the Diocese of Swansea and Brecon, in South Wales. The job will involve supporting people who are interested in ordination from their first enquiry, through the selection process, training and curacy, and up to their first position of responsibility. I’ll also serve as a priest in a large area around Brecon, working as part of a team serving 21 churches. It’s an exciting challenge and I’ll be using my academic experience in new ways.
It’s been a great joy to work at the Minster and I will miss everyone there. I’ve learned a lot about discipleship: the importance of fostering a community of believers who support one another and grow in faith together. God is doing some amazing work there and long may it continue. I hope and pray I’ll take that energy and spirit with me into my new role too.”
We hope you will join us in wishing Jane all the very best in her new role, and praying for her during this season of change. She has been a blessing to our community and she will be really missed.
Here are a few photos from the leaving lunch we held at the Minster this weekend:
