Welcome Shaun!

We are delighted to welcome Shaun Turnbull as Interim Assistant Organist. Shaun joins the Team until Easter next year and we know will prove a great asset to our music and our community.

Shaun writes:

‘I am very much looking forward to starting work as Interim Assistant Organist.  Having visited Leeds Minster a number of times- both more recently covering a few services- and in the more distant past to give organ recitals on the magnificent instrument, I have been struck by both the warmth of the Yorkshire welcome and the high esteem in which the music at the Minster is held.  I am looking forward to working for and with Alex, Paul and the whole team in providing the best music we can offer in God’s praise.

I have recently completed two years’ service as Assistant Organist at Ripon Cathedral.  Prior to this, I was Assistant Director of Music at Blackburn Cathedral for nine years, where I played for services and directed a number of ensembles.Notable events included live television and radio broadcasts and playing for the Office of Royal Maundy in 2014.

My partner, Rebecca (a lay clerk at Blackburn Cathedral), and Merlin, our beautiful housecat have recently relocated to Whixley, York, from where I am able to commute easily to both my work at Leeds and my other new role in the Development office at Ripon Cathedral.’
